Maria’s story, founder and Architect at Sici.

Maria Papadopoulos Architect & Founder

Maria Papadopoulos is the founding director of Sici Design a studio shaped by her lifelong passion for architecture and her deep cultural roots.

From a young age, Maria was drawn to the idea of space how it feels, how it functions, and how it shapes the way we live. Her fascination with design began at just four years old, sketching floorplans and imagining homes not just as structures, but as deeply personal experiences.

Fluent in Arabic, Greek and English, Maria brings a richly layered perspective to her work. Her design aesthetic is grounded in a Mediterranean sensibility — warm, balanced and considered — where simplicity meets subtle complexity, and every detail holds meaning.

As a registered architect, Maria’s approach is both intuitive and rigorous. She leads with empathy and clarity, collaborating closely with clients, consultants and builders to create spaces that are refined, pragmatic and emotionally intelligent. Her ability to weave cultural influence with contemporary design thinking forms the foundation of Sici’s work, architecture and interiors that are quietly confident, beautifully resolved, and crafted for life.

Through Sici, Maria continues to explore the intersection of place, identity and design creating homes that not only reflect the people who live in them, but elevate the way they live

“Design spaces is never just about appearance, it’s about how the space works, how it feels, and how it supports the way you live.”
